Foreword by Robbert Schep
*This thesis is about developing the tools and frameworks necessary for future generations to address our complex challenges. We aim to foster a culture of collective action and shared responsibility by providing communities with technologies they own and control. The experiment can lead to a blueprint that we can use to identify, create and market humane technologies fast and furious. Technologies we need in our daunting quest for a future for all mankind. We all feel and see our world change fast. Tetanic plates are crashing. Our cultural AND natural systems are colliding. I invite coders, designers, researchers, investors, innovators, and community leaders to join this transformative journey. By supporting Smartup Zero, you are investing in a new model of technological development that prioritizes the well-being of our planet and its people over profits. Together, we can build the digital tools needed to navigate our most pressing challenges and ensure a sustainable future for all for all mankind. And we start with ONLIFE. Let’s SMARTUP.

A Roadmap to the Smartup Model¶
This section of Timeline0 contains the peer-reviewed science, the global observations, and the rigorous hypothesis that birthed Smartup Zero.
We do not ask you to take our word for it. We ask you to follow the logic. We have structured this thesis to guide you from the root problem to our proposed solution.
-
1. The Methodology
Discover the four academic pillars that govern our experiment: Sociotechnical Systems Theory, Engelbart's Collective IQ, Ostrom's Commons, and Cybernetics.
-
2. The Observation
Review the 2025 UN SDG Progress Report. See exactly where traditional organizational models are failing us across Social, Technical, and External subsystems.
-
3. The Hypothesis
Our proposed solution: If we decouple wealth from power and redesign tech for groups rather than individuals, we can build tools that actually serve humanity.
-
4. The Experiment
How we are testing the hypothesis in reality. Dive deep into the specific architecture of the Social, Technical, and External subsystems of a Smartup.
-
5. Project History
Understand the 10-year journey—from a TNO research project on transient apps, to the realization that we needed to invent a new organizational model to protect public-good technology.
